In this work iron oxide nanoparticles were prepared by a simple precipitation technique with using different precursors and various surfactants during synthesis. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption (BET) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. The results show that the activity of iron catalysts in CO oxidation reaction was significantly affected by preparation method and type of precursors. The obtained results indicated that using nitrate precursors and reverse precipitation method for iron oxide preparation have a positive effect on the structural and catalytic properties of iron oxide in CO oxidation reaction
