Catalytic cracking of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was carried out over the modified FeHZSM-5 catalyst in a catalytic reaction setup. The feed conversion and the yields of light olefins were obtained at the temperature of 650 °C along the operating time up to 280 min. The FeHZSM-5 was obtained by the incipient wetness impregnation of ferrous salt solution over the acidic form of ZSM-5. The intermediary zeolite, HZSM-5, was prepared via the ion-exchange treatment on the purchased zeolite NaZSM-5. The XRD, FTIR, XRF, and ammonia-TPD measurements were interpreted to specify the physico-chemical properties of the catalyst, such as crystal structure, acid type, and metal loading. The results showed that the yield of light olefins C2–C4 was about 55 wt% for the catalyst at the mentioned operating conditions. High selectivities to the light olefins (~94%) were obtained on the Fe-loaded zeolite in expense of a low degree of LPG conversion. The cracking results showed that FeHZSM-5 is an appropriate catalyst for LPG conversion, and is particularly selective for C4 olefins.
