Effect of Surfactant on Morphology of Polyaniline Nanocomposites prepared in Aqueous/non-aqueous Media

Polyaniline nanocomposites were prepared in aqueous/non-aqueous media by polymerization of aniline using ammonium peroxy disulfate as an oxidant in the peresence of various surfactants such as hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC), poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (DBSNa). The effect of type of surfactant on the morphology have been investigated. Scanning electron microscopy was used to characterize the morphology of polyaniline .The results indicated that small and spherical nanoparticles can be obtained by using PVA. The chemical structure of the products was studied by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.
