In this paper, a new time domain algorithm for power
system frequency estimation is presented. The algorithm applies
only 4 samples in each window and it is also faster than some of
the conventional methods. This feature makes the algorithm
competent for using in under frequency load shedding where the
frequency relays should sense the online frequency and operate
as soon as possible. Moreover, a solution to overcome the
drawbacks of time-consuming computations is proposed. The
algorithm is successfully simulated on the IEEE 14 bus system
and also on some practical conditions which may occur in power
systems.
