—Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation of multiple sources using a passive array of sensors is a well known problem in signal processing. In this paper, we intend to post-process the DOA estimates using a multi-target tracking filter based on random finite sets (RFS) called the probability hypothesis density (PHD) filter. The PHD filter is capable of rejecting false DOAs due to noise, deal with missed detections and estimate the number of sources. Four methods of MUSIC-like, joint l0 approximation (JLZA), covariance matrix sparse representation (CMSR) and DOA estimation using a Toeplitz matrix will be examined at the front-end before the PHD filtering is carried out at the back-end. The optimal sub pattern assignment (OSPA) error criterion is used in order the evaluate the performance of the different methods
