The pipelines can be subjected to the combined effect of steady currents, oscillatory currents,
and wave-induced forces while resting on the seabed. The parameters of pipeline should be
carefully evaluated and selected to ensure maximum stability. To study the stability of
pipeline due to acting these forces a modeling diagram of these forces acting on the pipe
cross section is presented. The parameters as well as, practical and effective velocity have
been studded to showing the effect of hydrodynamic forces on pipelines with various water
depths. These forces are friction resistance force, combined drag force, combined lift force,
inertia force and submerged weight of the pipe. Estimation of the submerged weight and the
forces acting on the pipeline was performed at different water depths to facilitate of pipeline
design parameters with respect to the on-bottom stability. A computer program written in
BASIC language has been used in this work.
