In this research, Conductive polyaniline (PAn) and its nanocomposite was synthesized by in-situ
polymerization in the presence of hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)
as surfactant and ammonium persulfate (APS) as an oxidant. The ability of polyaniline (PAn)
nanocomposite to remove Fe(II) from aqueous solution was investigated in batch experiment for
the treatment of diluted aqueous solution. In this respect, batch experiment was carried out at the
pH range 3-12 and amount of dosage 0.1-1 g. The equilibrium data was better fitted with
Langmuir model (r2= 0.992) than Freundlich model (r2= 0.460). The nanocomposite was
synthesized under different experimental conditions and characterized by fourier transform
infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) like analytical tools.
Batch adsorption results showed that the sorbent had high affinity to Fe(II) in aqueous solution.
