In this paper Central Composite Design (CCD) technique was used to investigate the effects of
different operating parameters such as applied electrical current, electrolyte concentration (NaCl)
and electrolysis time on the removal of manganese (Mn) by the electrocoagulation (EC) process.
The optimum conditions for maximizing of removal efficiency were founded as 0.49 A, 21.5 mM
and 47 min for applied electrical current, electrolyte concentration and electrolysis time,
respectively. The influence of these three independent variables on the Mn removal was evaluated
using a second-order polynomial multiple regression model. Analysis of variance (ANOVA)
showed a high coefficient of determination (R2) value of (0.9853), thus ensuring a satisfactory
adjustment of the second-order regression model with the experimental data.
