The deactivation and selectivity behavior of nanostructure CrOx/γ-Al2O3 catalyst in catalytic
oxidation of O-VOCs (ethyl acetate) was studied. The polluted air was simulated and the catalyst
was tested in a course of 50 h time-on-stream in a packed bed catalytic micro reactor.
Characterization of fresh and used catalysts was carried out using FT-IR, XRD, SEM and EDX
methods. Analyzing of oxidation products using GC and GC-MS methods, showed that formation
of byproducts increased by deactivation of catalyst and therefore approximate catalyst selectivity
behavior during catalyst lifetime of 50 h was determined. Comparing the testing results of this
catalyst and that of the industrial Pt/Al2O3 catalyst showed that prepared catalyst can be suitable
for substitution with the expensive pt/Al2O3 catalyst in environmental applications.
