In this study microwave transesterification of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus
mykiss) waste oil was compared with conventional magnetic stirrer, ohmic,
ultrasonic probe, and ultrasonic bath methods. Microwave method effectively
increase the yield of biodiesel production and simultaneously decrease the reaction
time and energy consumption. After the microwave, ohmic, ultrasonic probe,
ultrasonic bath, and magnetic stirrer are suitable for biodiesel production,
respectively. Therefore, microwave method can be introduced as a suitable
alternative method for biodiesel production.
