The present study provides theoretical fatigue life prediction and evaluation of damage in a wind turbine blade. For this purpose, a full 3-D model of the blade was created in ANSYS 11 finite element software and subjected to dynamic analysis. The first flapwise and edgewise natural frequencies were calculated and locations with maximum stresses were determined. The number of cycles to failure was estimated considering resonance at the first flapwise natural frequency of the blade.
