Global population growth, increasing industrialization, urbanization and changing climate patterns have increased the chemical pollutants in water. Organic pollutants in water are harmful substances for human beings and for the environment. Photo-catalysis is a promising method for the removal of these pollutants. TiO2 is the most widely used photocatalyst and generally applied for treating wastewater containing refractory organic contaminants, especially TiO2 nanoparticles exhibits higher photocatalytic activity than bulk TiO2 particles. This review is focused only on the photocatalytic degradation of organic contaminants in water by pure TiO2 nanoparticles.
