Demulsification tests indicated that GO-based could separate the oil/water emulsions within a few minutes and recycle 6–7 times without losing its demulsification capability. The residual oil content in the separated water was as low as _10 mg/L, corresponding to a demulsification efficiency of 99.98% at an optimal dosage. The findings in this work indicate that Fe3O4@GO is used as an excellent and simple demulsifier to separate oil from oil in water emulsion about a few seconds and demonstrate a high demulsification efficiency that a less amount of GO is required which is the first report of Fe3O4@GO to eliminate oil in water emulsion. In addition, after separation, we can recycle the graphene oxide nanosheets using an external magnetic field so GO nanosheets consume repeatedly, resulting economically affordable
