In tropical countries, food and agricultural crops need to be kept cool to reduce spoilage and quality losses. Airborne psychrotrophic bacteria and fungi can cause adverse effects on food quality and consumers health safety. This study shows that the addition of antibacterial agents to filters is effective in preventing bacteria from colonising filters. However, it is apparent that the ability of microbial adaptation is a challenge for scientists and manufacturers. This research demonstrates the importance of evaluating not only the efficacy of the antimicrobial agent itself, but also its effective activity on the final filtration product. Considering the importance of the issue, research in this field would be necessary
