Owing to high security, chaos-based communication is a rapidly growing field in nonlinear optical devices. Meanwhile, one of the ubiquitous effects in nonlinear optics is second-harmonic generation (SHG). Here, we attempt to explore the signatures of temporal and quantum chaos in SHG. We apply two different independent analyses to being chaotic. We find that applying an electric field is followed with a stability-instability transition in SHG, and leads to chaos when the applied electric field is intense enough. We support our observations using bifurcation and spectral fluctuation analyses for temporal and quantum chaos, respectively.
