Perennial ryegrass (Lolium prenne) is a turf grass which is suitable for relatively cold conditions. This plant is resistant to drought and salinity stress. In order to evaluated the effect of ZnO nano particles on ryegrass germination under salinity stress the experiment conducted in a randomized completely design with three replications in the College of Agriculture, University of Tehran, campus of Aburaihan, Iran, in 2018. The experimental treatments included three concentrations of ZnO nano particles (0, 30 and 60 mg/L), three concentrations of NaCl (0, 50 and 100 mM). Analysis of variance showed that the effects of ZnO nano particles and ZnO× salinity were significant for leaf length and root length. The effect of salinity was significant for root length. Since Lolium prenne is relatively resistant to salinity the osmotic potentials of (0, 50, 100 mM) in this study did not have negative effects on the evaluated traits. However, increasing salt concentration caused decreasing in root elongation. In the 50 mM osmotic potential the 30 mg/l nano ZnO treatment could compensate the negative effect of salinity stress.
