The present study investigated the relationship between Iranian high school studentsˊ beliefs about language learning and their level of language achievement. It also aimed at finding the relationship between high school studentsˊ gender, parentsˊ education, number of family members and social status and their beliefs about language learning. The participants of this study were 1000 male and female high school students. The instruments of this study were BALLI questionnaire and a researcher-made demographic questionnaire used to assess learnersˊ beliefs about language learning and demographic information, respectively. The results revealed that there was a significant relationship between learnersˊ language achievement and their beliefs about language learning. The findings also revealed that there was a significant relationship between parentsˊ social status and learnersˊ beliefs about language learning. The findings have implications for pedagogy as well as for further research.
