The increasing significance and the developments in the communications field in recent years, has transformed translating texts from one language to another into one of the more important topics in translation studies. One of the most important issues in the field of translation is translating idiomatic expressions. The aim of this paper was to explore the strategies which were used by Persian translator in the translation of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee from English into Persian. To this aim, the idiomatic expressions were selected from the source text and compared with their translation in Persian. Therefore, 70 idioms were selected and analyzed to find the most frequent strategies. The theoretical framework of this research was based on Mona Baker s categorization of translation strategies. The finding manifested that; among all the translation strategies applied by the translator to translate the English idioms in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, translating by using an idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form was the most frequent procedure. Using an idiom of similar meaning and form and paraphrasing had equal frequencies and stood at second place. Omission was utilized the least. The analysis of the data showed that the practical strategy for translating an idiom for the translator was the second strategy that is Translation by using an idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form.
