Language is a social behavior that must be adhered to by any community speaking a particular language. The social groups in each society depend on general rules of the language in that society, but since they might also own their particular group norms, speakers of a language in a community may exert changes in their language according to their group norms. And this is one of the ways to create social languages. In fact this kind of language is a spectrum of broken and deformed terms in comparison to the colloquial language. The social language does not hold a separate and independent structure, except by intermingling manipulation of the colloquial language or simply by adding suffixes or prefixes. Most Iranian teenagers know at least five or ten words of this kind and use them in daily conversations. The purpose of this research is to find out sociologically the motivation of adolescents in using slang words and expressions. The survey population was male adolescent Persian speakers with an age range of 16-19 in Tehran and the research method was qualitative and the data gathering tool was interview through the Internet online messaging tool of the Telegram. The sampling procedure involved a purposive sampling of a snowball type. The sample size was comprised of 15 male adolescents of 16-19 years old, who had been recognized with using the most common Persian slangs. According to the results of this research, the motivation of adolescents in using slang terms is generally categorized into personal and transpersonal motivation. Regarding the causal origins concerning why the selected slang terms were so prevalent among adolescents, this paper cites pleasure, secrecy and attracting the attention of audiences as the main three reasons for the prevalence of these words.
