In this paper, a silicon-based quantum computing scheme is proposed, in which the building block is a charge qubit consisting of a pair of coupled-surface defects, known as dangling bonds. Dangling bonds are atomic-size entities, behaving as quantum dots. They are located on a phosphorus-doped hydrogen-terminated silicon (100) surface and are coupled by sharing one excess electron provided by a phosphorus dopant. The advantages of our scheme as compared to other charge-based bulk-silicon quantum computing schemes are the very long coherence times and the direct control and readout. Here, we address all DiVincenzo criteria and also address the major sources of decoherence.
