This research investigated the effect of the sintering temperature on the properties of wall tile bodies. The raw materials were the clay minerals. The samples were formed by uniaxial press and then sintered at different temperature (950-1300 °C) for 2 h. The densification behaviour was described in terms of density, shrinkage, water absorption and hardness of samples. According to the obtained results, the optimum sintering temperature for this wall tile composition was 1200 °C which had the maximum values of density, shrinkage and hardness. This improvement in densification at 1200 °C could be attributed to the formation of liquid phase during sintering and the minimum porosity value of the sample. Further increases in sintering temperature resulted in the expansion of the tiny pores and the abnormal grain growth which could cause the deterioration of various properties of wall tiles.
