In this study, five different kinds of catalysts containing calcium oxide have been prepared.
Calcium nitrate was loaded on three form of idusterial Al2O3 and their performance on the yield of
methyl ester production from soybean oil campared with the powder of CaO and coral as the other
sources of CaO. The experimental condition were set at: 5wt. % catalyst content, the methanol:oil
molar ratio of 12:1 to 30:1 and reaction temperature 65⁰C and reaction time 8h. The coral has
shown the best result with the methyl ester yield equal to 99% was obtained.
