MFI zeolite crystals consist of sinusoidal channels with a circular cross-section interconnected with
straight channels whose cross-section is elliptical (5.4 A °5.6 A °). Besides the size selectivity, another
specific feature of MFI membranes is their shape selectivity. In seperation of linear and nonlinear
hydrocarbons, porous structure of MFI zeolite membranes permits the linear molecules to enter in sinusoidal
or straight channels, easier and faster, but it does not permit the branched hydrocarbons to enter the chanals.
This study has shown that in evaluation of synthesized membranes with different methods, the membranes
synthesized with seeding method (secondary growth method), have suitable properties and high performance
in the separation of linear and nonlinear hydrocarbons.
