The zeolites occur mainly as amygdales at Kuh-e-Golestaneh and Badamcheh study regions in Central
Iran. The volcanic rocks of both study regions have Eocene ages and of trachyandesite, andesite and
andesitic basalt compositions. The types of zeolites at Kuh-e-Golestaneh are natrolite, tetranatrolite, fibrous
mesolite, analcime, stilbite, levyne and offretite. Kaolinite and calcite are associated with the zeolites. Traces
of chalcopyrite and malachite also observed at Kuh-e-Golestaneh. The zeolites of Badamcheh consist of
natrolite, fibrous tetranatrolite, traces of analcime and mesolite. The presence of tetranatrolite, which is
characteristic of hydrothermal minerals, indicate that the mineralization in both study regions have
hydrothermal origins.
