There are many academic and industrial studies about zeolite synthesis and characterization during the
last decades. The synthesis of zeolite A has been of interest of many researchers due to applications as
sorbent, separator and ion-exchange in industries. One of the most important usages of this compound is its
application in detergents as a builder. Zeolite A is a good substitute for sodium triphosphate (STTP) which is
banned in U.S., Europe and Japan, because of its environmental problems. These applications can be good
reason for investigation of its stability in different pHs and temperatures. Many methods for preparing zeolite
A have been reported in literature without complete details of synthesis conditions, In this report , zeolite A
was synthesis by using technical grade materials. X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy (IR) and
optical microscopy were used for characterization of the samples. Stability of this compound in different pHs
and temperatures was investigated. XRD was also employed for studying relative crystallinity of the
samples.
