Magnetic gears (MGs), a promising alternative to conventional mechanical gear boxes, have gained growing attention in the last decade. In this paper optimal design of a novel arcuate double-sided magnetic gear for wind turbine application is presented. This topology inspired by combination of the traditional radial and axial flux structures of MGs, is quantitatively analyzed using 3-D finite-element method (FEM).
