There is no consistent data on the mechanical properties of human ureter which crucial in finite element analyses (FEA). Therefore, we performed series of uniaxial strain measurement experiments and extracted the constitutive model to describe the mechanical characteristics of the ureter tissue. So six specimens were obtained from human ureter and the planar uniaxial tests were performed on the tissue specimens by applying loads along the directions. Then the achieved stress-strain curves from the tests were modeled with a mathematical function and the Young modulus was obtained in both longitudinal and circumferential directions. The specimens showed stiffer behavior in longitudinal direction rather than circumferential one. Then measured data were fitted into the hyperelastic fourparameter Fung-type model and also to the modified Mooney–Rivlin hyperelastic model ready to use in computational modeling software.
