Variety of driving cycles in different countries, as well as changing the standards, show the necessity for development and continuous updating of driving cycles and standards. This paper, describes the experimental driving data collection of the Tehran city and its suburbs reflecting the real-world driving conditions. Based on the driving data, a car driving cycle has been developed for simulation of plug-in hybrid vehicle to evaluate the fuel consumption and emissions. For this purpose, data acquisition has been carried out over diverse Tehran routes, representing travel under different conditions, using the chassis dynamo-meter approach. In this study, driving data gathering is performed under real traffic conditions using Advanced Vehicle Location devices installed on passenger cars. The recorded driving data is then analyzed, based on “micro-trip’’ definition. Then, the characteristics of the developed driving cycle are compared with some other light vehicle driving cycles used in other countries, including FTP, NEDC, J1015 and APC. Results indicate the necessity of development driving cycle for various zones. Also, modeling and simulation of plug in hybrid vehicle has been performed for Tehran driving cycle using ADVISOR. Fuel consumption and emission for PHEV compared with HEVs. Finally, effects of SoC investigated on vehicle performance to evaluate fuel consumption and emissions.
