Benchmarking of operational availability and utilization of mining equipment – A case study

دستيابي به توليد برنامه ريزي شده يكي از چالش هاي بزرگ شركت هاي معدني در يك بازار رقابتي مي باشد كه افزايش دسترسي عملياتي و استفاده مفيد ماشين آلات نقش به سزايي در تحقق آن ايفا مي كند. در اين راستا، اندازه گيري صحيح و مداوم اين دو فاكتور و مقايسه آن با بنچ مارك (استاندارد)، به ارزيابي وضعيت، تشخيص مشكلات،بهينه سازي عملكرد ماشين آلات و افزايش توليد كمك شاياني مي نمايد. مقاله حاضر به اندازه گيري صحيح دسترسي عملياتي و استفاده مفيد ماشين آلات معدني و بنچ مارك نمودن آنها پرداخته است. به اين منظور داده هاي مورد نيازمربوطه از عمليات 19 دراگلاين در يك معدن بزرگ زغال سنگ تحليل آماري شده و يك شاخص استاندارد بر اساس خصوصيات آماري داده ها براي دسترسي عملياتي و استفاده مفيد پيشنهاد گرديده است.

Achieving the high production and productivity, is one of the biggest challenges for any mining project, in order to remain competitive in the global market. To meet these ends, within tight operating schedules, it becomes imperative for the mining companies to optimize the equipment operations by configuring the conditions that give the maximum operational availability and utilization. Configuration of appropriate conditions entails proper measurement techniques to establish these factors followed by comparing it with their benchmark values. The entire exercise evaluates the equipment performance vis-à-vis its standard (benchmark) performance. Eventually, this assists in perfect diagnosis of equipment performance and related issue in order to achieve commensurate targets. In this context, the current paper proposes a methodology based on statistical analysis of data to benchmark operational availability and utilization for mining equipment. Further, the study is substantiated by a case study of large-scale dragline operation to set the benchmark value of operational availability and utilization, in one of the major surface coal mines.
