Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) represent a new class of hybrid organic-inorganic supramolecular materials comprised of ordered networks formed from organic electron donor linkers and metal cations [1, 2]. Now constituting thousands of distinct examples, MOFs are an intriguing class of hybrid materials that exist as infinite crystalline lattices with inorganic vertices and molecular-scale organic connectors [3, 4]. Solid-state coordination chemistry is a versatile greener alternative to conventional synthesis, offering quantitative yields, enhanced stoichiometric and topological selectivity, access to a wider range of precursors, as well as to molecules and materials not readily accessible in solution or solvothermally [5]. In this work we investigate the reaction between bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) sulfone ligand (H2B-4-hps) and NaOH, provides a crystalline material with formula [Na(HB-4-hps) (H2O)]n (1).
