A finite element method by using two sets of basis functions for solving fourth-order boundary value problems

In this paper we intend to introduce a finite element method for solving fourth-order boundary value problems. This method converts the given fourth-order problems into a linear system of algebraic equations by using two sets of basis functions. Finally the proposed method is illustrated by an example and also the results are compared with the exact solution by using computer simulations.
