When individuals read, their brains function in a way that is indistinguishable from what happens when they write. It is good to take a look to the phase before writing called prewriting . One of the specific prewriting strategies is reading and the brainstorming is one of its techniques as well. To be more specific the current study aimed at investigating the effect of using brainstorming techniques on developing EFL learners SL writing. To check the probable effects of the instructions on learners writing the researcher observed and recorded the observations also a book named the practical writer with readings by Edward P. Baily and Philip A.Howel was used. The British Council writing scoring rubric has been used to help raters with the standards. Language learners were selected randomly first and they tested by IG proficiency test and also by TWE test that is test of writing. After analyzing the scores of groups, 5 cases were selected as research sample, by snowball sampling. The Participants received a course of writing in order to be ready for a 5 paragraph essay. In the second phase after 4 sessions of instructions which they received the texts and development patterns and the graphic organizers, they were asked to write about the given topics and apply learnt patterns. In fact they read a text to write about it. After treatments the learners learnt how to concentrate their ideas and cohesively write a five paragraph essay.
