Nowadays, dyes are widely used in textiles, paper, leather, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and food industries. Various physical, chemical, and biological technologies can be employed for the purification of dye-contaminating wastewater. Adsorption has been recognized as the most popular treatment method for the removal of dyes from aqueous solution due to its simplicity, high efficiency, and reusability of the adsorbent. In this regard, adsorbents from natural renewable resources have gain significant interest. Natural polymers such as polysaccharide and their derivatives have gained significant interest as low-cost adsorbents of choice for wastewater treatment because of their particular structure, physico-chemical characteristics, chemical stability, high reactivity and excellent selectivity towards organic compounds. Also magnetic nanoparticles with tailored surface chemistry using natural polymers have been widely used in these fields. The basic properties of nanoparticles extremely small size, the absence of internal diffusion resistance and high surface area to volume ratio, provide better kinetics for the adsorption of organic dyes from aqueous solutions. Recently, an extensive list of magnetic polysaccharide based adsorbents for dye removal has been reported. Adsorption of dyes using magnetic peach gum beads, magnetic polyethyleneimine nanoparticles coated on chitosan, magnetic CuFe2O4/cellulose, carrageenan coated magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles, carboxymethyl chitosan bound Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles and magnetic alginate beads showed excellent adsorption performance and introduced promising eco-friendly materials for removing dyes from wastewater.
