Industrial wastewater is one of the most important source of soil and water pollution. Formaldehyde which is scientifically named methanal is the smallest aldehyde with bad smelling. The existence of formaldehyde in wastewater causes a toxic effect on environment and ecosystem. Therefore, the treatment of wastewater containing this pollutant is really necessary. In this work, a bio-reactor is modeled to remove formaldehyde from an industrial wastewater. Consequently, the effects of several parameters at dynamic condition on the performance of this reactor are investigated. The dynamic governing equations are used to calculate the decomposing amount of formaldehyde with using Ralstonia bacteria. The results showed that, the bacteria could properly degrade the formaldehyde content of wastewater. Furthermore, with increasing the formaldehyde concentration the maintenance energy coefficient increases to its maximum value and then decreases. This effect is totally different for theoretical growth yield coefficient in which reaches to minimum and then rises.
