Artemia spp. is the most used species as live food for larval fish and crustacean species in aquaculture. Artemia used from nauplius stage to adulthood in 85% of the marine species cultured. The usage of Artemia in aquaculture has many advantages; however, the nauplius stage is incomplete food since they have low content of eicosapentaenoic (EPA, 20:5 n-3) and docosahexaenoic (DHA, 22:6 n-3) fatty acids, both important for the development of organisms in aquaculture. Fortunately, Artemia can be enriched by feeding it with some microalgal species that have these fatty acids. Various marine microalgae are used as food for Artemia. In this study, various algae species used in Artemia enrichment were examined.
