F0 peak alignment of the stressed syllable in Persian prenuclear accent - Batool Alinezhad

This paper investigates the f0 pitch location in prenuclear accent of declarative sentences in Persian stressed syllable. An acoustic analysis was done while the number of the unstressed syllables of the reference word /tɑb/ varied from 0-2 before and after it respectively. The experimental results show that the next tone type is the key factor to align the location of peak delay once leftward expansion is considered, namely, if the next tone is H* +L, f0 peak of the stressed syllable of the test words occurs earlier than the next tone is L+H*. But peak delay is affected by the word size, that is, the number of unstressed syllables attached at the right edge of the stressed syllable.
