An introduction to a screening- diagnostic task for childhood apraxia of speech

The aim of the present study was to provide a screening task to differential diagnose of childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) efficiently. A population of 4- 5 years of age children (60 participants with and without CAS) was asked to repeat 25 nonwords. The responses of participants were analyzed based on timing difficulties and acoustic characteristics of error types in CAS. Ten nonwords were extracted from the experimental stimuli. There was a significant difference between performances of children with and without CAS on the extracted nonwords for screening task (t= 20.03; p 0.01).
