چكيده فارسي :
This study investigates the use of long-term formant frequency (LTF) of vowels in discrimination of Persian speakers. LTF is a method by which formant values of all vocalic portions produced by a speaker are averaged, leading to one mean value and a standard deviation (SD) per formant. To explore between- and within-speaker variability, LTF values of 24 Persian speakers (12 male, 12 female) in a non-contemporaneous data of read speech were analyzed. The results of the study indicated that the LTF values of F3 are the most highly discriminant acoustic parameters across male Persian speakers while the LTF values of F4 were reported more suitable for female speakers. The result also provided more evidence for the language-independency of the LTF measures.
