Shot Peening (SP) is a surface treatment that used for fatigue life improvement of metallic components. Here, a shot flow with constant speed is in use so as to leave a residual stress layer on surface target. Ii is well known that numerical model can be considerably helpful to restrict costly and time consuming empirical investigations. So a mathematical model is required to simulate SP. Many numerical researches are focused on the targets without any defects. In this research the role of Plane of Crack on the distribution of residual stresses is analyzed. Finite Element method is used to determine the potential of SP simulation. To achieve this issue a novel 3D-FE model with multiple randomly flow shots was extended combining Python program and Abaqus software (Commercial Finite Element (FE) software) preprocessor. To validate model, the FE results are compared with experimental data.
