Explosive welding (EWX) is a joining method producing lami-nated metal composite with controllable thermal conductivity and ideal mechanical properties and it has obvious economic benefits. In the current work, Al-Cu tube composite production by explo-sive welding is simulated using finite element method by application of Abaqus software and mechanical characteristics of joint are investigated. The mechanical characteristics in the Al-Cu explosive welding process such as Von-Mises stress, pressure and equivalent strain plastic in fly plate and also normal direction of weld line for different detonation and collision velocities (Vd and Vc) are presented. The interfacial morphology of the Al-Cu composite in the numerical simulations was compared with an experimental test.
