The corrosion of mild steel in 0.5 M sulphuric acid solution in the absence and presence of different concentrations of pantoprazole was studied using Tafel polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. Results show that the addition of inhibitor to acid solution leads to decreasing the corrosion rate. The inhibitor behaves as a mixed type inhibitor because it affected both cathodic and anodic branches of the polarization curves. The results of Tafel polarization and EIS indicated that the adsorption of pantoprazole on mild steel in sulphuric acid solution followed Langmuir isotherm. There is a good agreement between the inhibition efficiencies which are obtained from polarization and EIS measurements.
