Abstract In this study Co3O4 nanoparticles was synthesized by sol-gel technique and was examined as sorbent to remove of Cd2+. The obtained nanoparticles was characterized using FTIR, and XRD. BET surface area of nanoparticles was 21.39 m2/g. The effect of adsorbent weight and contact time on adsorption capacity and removal ratio of the Cd2+ ions was investigated as well. The results revealed that prepared nanoparticles can be used as an effective adsorbent for the removal of Cd2+ ions.
