In this study a poly safranine O (SO) film was preparated via electro polymerization technique on multiwall carbon nanotube modified carbon paste electrode (MWCNT/CPE) (Fig. 1) [1]. The effect of pH, MWCNT concentration and safranine O concentration on electrochemical response were explored for optimum analytical performance [2, 3]. The modified electrode exhibited a pair of well defined, quasi-reversible peaks at formal potential (E0) = -0.19±0.001 V. Ag/AgCl corresponding to the SO ox/SO red redox couples in the presence of MWCNT and Nafion. The electrochemical parameters such as charge-transfer coefficient and apparent heterogeneous electron transfer rate constant were determined.
