Polymeric membranes are used in most gas separation processes because of their good mechanical strengh, thermal stability and desired gas permeability. Some advantageous of hollow fiber (HF) membrane module geomety, such as high surface area and pressure endurance, have made them more applicable related to spiral or plate and frame types for gas separation processes. In this study, polyethersulfone (PES) HF membrane modules were fabricated and applied for H2/CH4 separation at the pressure of 31 barg in both pure and mixed gas permeation experiments. HF membranes were fabricated through dry-wet spinning method and their morphology were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images aiming to access to the macrovoid free asymmetric structure. Gas permeation results showed that the H2/CH4 pure gas selectivity is 67.5, which decreased to 51.85 in the case of mixed gas. H2 Selectivity reduction in mixed gas analysis is due to the sptial disturbance of CH4 molecules against effective surface contact of H2 molecules.
