Chemical vapor deposition is the most reasonable and executable approach for high quality graphene synthesis in which transition metal substrates used as catalyst. Large area graphene was produced by using ethylene as an alternativeprecursor gas at lower temperatures compared to methane.Raman spectroscopy indicated that the growth of high quality few layer graphene with low defects. Also TEM and BET results confirmed that the graphene grown using ethylene is of a good quality and large surface area (562 m2/g) . A new route was used to functionalize graphene based on hydrothermal oxidation method which FTIR spectroscopy confirmed its performance
