Nowadays the employment of functionalized magnetic nanoparticles have captivated noticeable attention on account of their wide application in various fields of biomedical diagnostics, biotechnology, bioseparation, cellular therapy, biosensors, protein and enzyme immobilization and etc. Fe3O4 is one of the most popular nano particles which is under investigation in different fields.Small size, high magnetic property, gooddispersion, biocompability and stability are the characterizations which cause expanded usage of these nanoparticles. Well-chosen coating has an important effect on nanoparticles dispersion in proper solvent or attaching the target molecule on the surface of the magnetic nanoparticles. In addition the coating can protect the Fe3O4 from oxidation. Magnetization value is imporatnt in biotechnology applications of Fe3O4, so thecoatings must be selected carefully. In this work we illustrate the synthesis of mangnetic nanoparticles of Fe3O4 with the average size of 50 nm. The synthesized nanoparticles were coated with amine groups and the aldehyde groups, and a comparison between these two coatings and their effect on the magnetization value has been done. The saturation magnetization (Ms) values obtained were 68.76, 67.55 and 66.26 emu g−1 for pure Fe3O4, Fe3O4@NH2 and Fe3O4@NH2@CHO, respectively.
