In this study, polyrhodanine (PRh) was prepared by novel chemical oxidation polymerization.Nanoparticles polyrhodanine powder was successfully prepared from an aqueous solution including rhodanine monomer powder as a reductant, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) powder as asurfactant and potassium permanganate salt as an oxidant. Solution for chemical oxidation polymerization and reaction was vigorously magnetic stirred for 20 hours. The precipitates were washed several times with deionized water until the washings were free from the residual reagents.The Product was dried in oven for over night at 45 °C. The prepared powder samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). SEM images indicated that the polyrhodanine nanoparticles were spherical and the average size of the polyrhodanine nanoparticles is about 100 nm. The FT-IR spectra of synthesized polyrhodanine / polyvinylpyrrolidone showed that the polymerization of rhodanine proceeds over carbon and nitrogen atoms. These experiments were performed two times, and the proposed method gave an accurate and satisfactory result both times.
