Recovery of copper from personal computer boards was evaluated by means of microbial leaching. Copper leaching was performed in two stages. In the first stage, the bacteria were grown in a culture medium and in the second stage; copper containing boards was added to the metabolites produced by bacteria. Bioleaching was performed using autotrophic bacteria A. thiooxidans and A. ferrooxidans and a mixed media of them. Highestcopper recovery (91%) attained in S/L ratio of 5gr/Land in the mix media containing both A. thiooxidansand A. ferrooxidansbacteria.
