Phasor measurement units (PMUs) are becoming essential tools for monitoring and control of dynamic phenomena occurring in power grids and for ensuring the electric network reliability and stability. This paper discusses some valuable experiences and viewpoints associated with the practical aspects of PMU installation. Among the points discussed here are the required substation infrastructure and facilities, installation requirements, communication systempreparation, and monitoring center establishment. Additionally, lessons learned from the project are thoroughly discussed which could be worthy for practitioners involved in similar projects
