Air-conditioning (AC) systems are the major energy consumption units in power distribution utilities, both in residential and commercial buildings. The most important concept of smart grid implementations refers to its energy saving application, reducing the consumers’ bill and contributing to the environment by minimizing carbon emissions from generating stations. This paper presents an airconditioning energy management system for buildings using smart Master-Slaves control architectures. The proposed system designed, simulated, and experimentally tested using real parameters in an office building. Several operation scenarios were implemented and tested based on the clerks’ working hour schedules. The proposed system implementation leads to a 40- 60% saving of the consumed energy by the tested units. It is shown that the design can easily be used in any other commercial or residential building with minor changes in the whole system
